Passenger injured in two-vehicle crash

At 7:15 p.m. on May 6, 2024, Charles E. Welker, 66, Tunas, was headed north on US 65, six miles north of Fair Grove, in a 1997 GMC Sierra 1500 when Christopher J. Holdren, 30, Buffalo, struck the rear of the GMC Sierra in a 2005 Saturn Vue. An occupant of the GMC Sierra, Alissa Wood, 51, Tunas, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Cox South in Springfield. The Saturn Vue faced extensive damage and the GMC Sierra faced minor damage and was driven from the scene. Both drivers were wearing a safety device.
